I attended the Frogman’s Print Workshop for the first time this summer in Vermillion, South Dakota. It was a fabulous experience and I look forward to attending again next summer. I was enrolled in Ryan O’Malley’s session on Mezzotint printing. Other instructor’s at the workshop for Session One included: Melissa Harshman, Dennis McNett, Andrew Kosten, Mary Jones, Beauvais Lyons, Lenore Thomas, and Jason Ruhl.

During Frogman’s Print Workshop 2012 Dennis McNett’s class created The Unibeagloyote of Vermillion.

From Dennis McNett’s Flicker Stream of the The Unibeagloyote of Vermillion:

“The Wolfbat tribe continues to grow and migrate across the continents. Their last stop was in Vermillion,SD where the tribe met with the Eagle, Bear, Coyote, and Unicorn clans of the Wolfbat. These clans with their combined essences…. bear (strength), Coyote (camaraderie), Eagle (freedom), and Unicorn (creativity) … conjured the great Unibeagloyote to disperse these essences to the Wolfbat tribe. This was a collaborative project for the Frogman’s printmaking workshop in Vermillion, SD July 2012”

The beast was filled with fireworks and ignited for a spectacular performance at The River. Monica Marie Garcia sung at the bonfire. It was a resonating experience!

On March 15-17, 2012 Vans Custom Culture teamed up with the BFT and The Wolfbat Railway at the Old Iron Works at 612 Piety Street in New Orleans to create a series of spectacular events that included collaboration of artists on a 20 boxcar train, print shows, music by local bands, a fun-house BBQ, and art market which concluded with a parade of the Wolfbat Railway.

Wolfbat Studios (Dennis McNett) & Woodcut Funhouse (Sean Starwars) hosted this three day customization event that was 100% free and open to the public.

The project was designed to spark collaborations between professional artists, educators, college art students and local kids which will create an invaluable learning/working experience for everyone involved. It brought artists and professionals together with students who may normally not be exposed to such a diverse crowd of individuals with a working knowledge of art, print mediums, constructing sculptures, and performing. The event also provided an opportunity for students to show work and be a part of something bigger than themselves.
